For this reason, a constant work of removing or modifying programs has been underway for some time, many of which can be defined as historical, milestones of the Windows ecosystem. Microsoft’s decision to profoundly change its software ecosystem is part of a broader trend in the technology sector, where updates and innovations are frequent and necessary to remain competitive.

With the introduction of new generations of users and the competition becoming increasingly fierce, Windows is making great strides to ensure that its operating system is capable of predict future needs of information technology.

Period of great change for Windows users

One of the most iconic aspects of Windows, the Control Panel, has recently been at the center of major changes. This tool, present since the first version of the operating system in 1985is seeing a progressive reduction in its features, which are transferred to the Windows 11 Settings App.

Recently, Microsoft announced that the management of typographic characters, one of the functions traditionally hosted by the Control Panel, it will be completely removed and integrated into the Settings App. Later this year, the Fonts page will no longer be available in Control Panel, and users will have to turn to the new interface to manage their fonts.

This transition from the old to the new interface was designed to be as minimally invasive as possible. Microsoft has implemented a new fonts page in the Settings App which maintains all the functionality and features of the previous version of Control Panel. Although the original fonts page will be deleted, users can still access installed fonts by navigating to the C:WindowsFonts directory through File Explorer.

For those who find this change inconvenient and prefer the classic interface, you can create a direct connection which will open the font location in File Explorer directly from the new settings page. This is a clear indication that despite the significant changes made to the system, Microsoft is trying to ease the transition for users and minimize any negative impact on their daily experience.
