People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Outriders) decided to cancel Project Dagger, a new action/adventure video game IP that has been in development for some time. The publisher of the game was Take Twobut two years ago he abandoned the project and People Can Fly had to continue alone.
Now, the team has decided to block production of Project Dagger, as he did not consider that the product had the right potential. The information was shared by Twitter user MauroNL3.
The information had actually been available since the beginning of the month, but the People Can Fly report had avoided the spotlight.
People Can Fly’s statement on the cancellation
People Can Fly declares “The interruption of work on the Project is the result of the reanalysis of the project development plans implemented by the capital group of PCF Group SA (the “Group”) and the introduction of amendments to such plans in connection with the unsatisfactory results of the evaluation of the scope and commercial potential of the Project after the redefinition of the development direction of the game, of which the Company announced in the current report no. 59/2023 of 28 November 2023.”
“The decision to interrupt the works entails the creation of write-offs as of 31 December 2023 for an amount equal to 100% of the value of the expenses incurred for the Project and the cancellation of the value of the expenses incurred for the Project from the Company’s accounting books as of the date of decision to terminate the Project.”
It should be noted, however, that the agreement made with Take-Two when the latter withdrew from the project provided for People Can Fly to pay 20 million dollars to the publisher if the game was ever released. Cancellation means that such payment is not necessary.
