Embracer Group announces plans to split into three different companies

Embracer Group announced its intention to divide in three different companies: Asmodee for board games, Coffee Stain & Friends for indie and double-A game development, and finally Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends for triple-A projects.

“The three entities will be separate companies listed on the stock exchange“, reads the press release, “enabling each to better focus on their respective core strategies and offer more differentiated and distinct equity stories to existing and new shareholders.”

After the sale of Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two for 460 million dollars, Embracer is therefore aiming to carry out a transformation that will allow it to diversify its tasks and therefore gain value on the stock market.

The three companies in detail

In announcing the split, Embracer Group entered into a new financing agreement for 900 million euros, which will be used to “repay existing debt and reduce the financial leverage of the remaining group”.

As regards the details regarding the three companies that will be born from this operation, Asmodee will reaffirm its role as publisher and distributor of board games with its twenty-three internal studios and over three hundred intellectual properties.

Coffee Stain & Friends it will deal with indie and double-A video games, as well as free-to-play for PC, console and mobile, focusing in particular on brands such as Deep Rock Galactic, Goat Simulator, Wreckfest, Teardown and more than two hundred other intellectual properties.

Middle-earth Enterprises & Friendsfinally, it will aim to create ambitious triple-A projects for PC and console, managing important franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider thanks to the presence of development teams such as Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Eidos Montreal, Flying Wild Hog, Tripwire, Warhorse Studios and 4A Games.
