At the initial sight, once the man recovered the very heavy animal during a fishing session, he thought he had identified an unknown creature. Maybe even a fish I’ve never seen before.
In reality, although not particularly well-known, the prey is not that unusual. It’s a worm! We are in fact in Thailand, precisely in the Krabi area. The fisherman, Su Surasak, therefore came across a sea worm, which actually responds to the name of an annelid.
The strange appearance of the annelid
Su Surasak himself said he was very surprised, because he had never seen one before. Hence the decision to film it as testimony. Actually the worm has a very unusual appearancesome would argue, it is a fantastic creature, the kind you see in films.
The annelid is in fact a scientifically defined vermiform organism. In fact, the body has a strange symmetry made up of segments that look like rings that are all the same when looked at. The same thing can be said for the internal organs, especially what concerns the nervous, circulatory and excretory systems. The most famous are the Polychaeteswhich are found mainly in freshwater environments.
Given their soft shape, finding fossils is not easy. Those traced to date are mostly jaws. Some fossils that resemble those of this species are those of the “Ediacaran Fauna”, belonging to the fauna of the Ediacaran period. For scientists they can be considered the oldest annelid fossils we have available.
