After a leap into the past with the historic Abarth 2000 Scorpio, today the brand wants to pay homage to its 75 years of history with a new model called Abarth Classiche 1300 OT. This car is based on the Alfa Romeo 4C and is presented as a “contemporary reinterpretation” of the famous Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 racing car from 1965.
The 1300 OT follows the previous 2021 one-off special edition 1000 SP, which was also derived from the 4C. Compared to the latter, they will be produced only five examples of the 1300 OT, with production starting very soon following the presentation of a scale model at parent company Stellantis’ Heritage Hub in Turin this weekend.
Although nothing is known about its price, reservations are already open. Abarth says that this new special edition “preserves the soul of an authentic Abarth“, with a Custom made carbon fiber bodywork sporting a retro racing livery, enhanced by various 1960s-inspired details, including the distinctive “periscope” roof vent and louvered rear window.
One of the most distinctive elements is the air intake for engine cooling, as wide as the entire rear part, embellished with the large Abarth logo. The engine used is the 1.7-liter turbo-four with 240 horsepoweralready fitted on the 4C, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
Recently, Abarth also announced an enhanced version of the 600e, with new official interior images including distinctive details and racing components. This “Scorpionissima” is also a celebration of the brand’s 75th anniversary and will be the most powerful Abarth ever madethanks to a 240 HP electric motor.
