GTA 6: a making of video reveals how the amateur live action trailer was created

YouTuber Andrew Levitt posted a “making of” videos in which he reveals how he was able to achieve the exceptional live action version amateur of first trailer for GTA 6.

If you missed it, here is the video in question. The film was created by filming in Miami and the Florida Keys, carefully selecting the same locations seen in the original trailer.

In this sense, the behind the scenes offered by Levitt is also interesting because it manages to highlight the incredible attention paid by Rockstar developers to recreating some actually existing places in GTA 6 even down to the smallest details, such as the destroyed bridge of the Keys Islands of Florida or the lifeguard tower seen in the beach sequence.

A project created with passion

As explained by Levitt, to recreate the GTA 6 trailer in reality they are necessary 46 individual shots, 38 if we remove real-life footage from the equation, like the arrest of the Florida Joker and the viral video of LA Susan (the rowdy neighbor armed with two hammers). To make them, he and his collaborators flew to Miami to find all the perfect locations for filming, which also included some in-flight shots taken with a drone equipped with a camera.

Not everything went as planned. For example, some of the real footage used recreated in the game by Rockstar has too low quality that it would have clashed with the rest of the production, so the YouTuber decided to make some parodies himself. Among these is the neighbor exhibitionist who waters the lawn wearing only a pink thong, the rude motorist who makes rude gestures on the side of the highway and the man who landslides on a table and falls from several meters in height.

Unfortunately some scenes were simply impossible to recreate. Among these is one that shows a woman in a white bikini on the roof of a skyscraper. Well, Levitt and his companions managed to locate the building in question, but the only way to access it would have been to rent a five-star hotel room at the exorbitant price of 4,733 dollars per night, well above the available budget .

Between a few accidents along the way, such as a punctured tyre, and a few strokes of luck, such as the boat party filmed in an almost fortuitous manner, Levitt’s team finally managed to complete all the necessary shots in just over a week. What can I say, hats off for both his skill and dedication.
