Apple: Macs with M4 chip with focus on AI arriving by the end of 2024

barely a half year has passed since the arrival of the first Macs with M3 chips, but Apple could already be ready to bring one to the market new generation of computers powered by M4 processorsan SoC that will aim above all on Artificial Intelligence. According to Bloomberg, new Macs with M4 chips could debut as early as the end of 2024. The Cupertino giant is planning to update the entire Mac lineup with the new M4 chips, starting from iMaccome on Entry-level MacBook Pro 14come on MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inches more powerful and come on Mac mini, which should hit the market by early 2025.

They will then follow, in the spring of 2025, i new 13 and 15 inch MacBook Airwhile the Mac Studio will arrive mid-next year and the Mac Pro by the end of 2025, although plans may change.

New Macs with AI-focused M4 processor

Apple’s main focus for the M4 series would be artificial intelligence, with the aim of recovering lost ground compared to competitors such as Microsoft and Google. The new chips should indeed deliver significant improvements in AI processing capabilities at the hardware level, in close integration with the software macOS. The next iPhones could also benefit from AI-focused updateswith the integration of technologies such as Google’s Gemini AI, waiting for Apple to complete its generative artificial intelligence models.

In terms of technical specifications, M4 processors are expected to be made on the 3-nanometer process, like M3 chips, but with further refinements to offer increases in performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, Apple plans to significantly enhance the Neural Enginethe component specialized in processing artificial intelligence workloads.

New Macs with the M4 chip could also support up to 512GB of unified memory, a clear step up from the current cap of 192GB. Obviously, as with Apple chip-based systems, the memory upgrade will be more complex than with Intel systems.

In summary, Apple is preparing a major update to its Mac lineup, with a specific focus on artificial intelligence. The new M4 chips are expected to debut by the end of 2024 and reach all Mac models by early 2025, promising a significant leap forward in AI processing capabilities at the hardware level.
