It’s a decidedly special moment for Xbox which is changing many of its strategies and, apparently, working very carefully already on the next generation of consoles.
It’s certainly strange to read such a statement if we think about how developers perceive the console of the current generation, even discussing the possibility of abandoning it completely now.
With the consoles currently on the market, so much so that you can find them easily Xbox Series at Amazon, an internal note from Sarah Bond explained some details regarding the future operations of Microsoft’s gaming division.
As reported Windows Centralthe Xbox business is facing obvious transformations, including various types of initiatives, which also include the increased pace of work on the next generation:
“It’s been almost six months since we came together as an organization. Our collective achievements over this time are extraordinary. Everyone should feel incredibly proud of what we have achieved and excited about the opportunities ahead. [..] We’re moving full speed ahead with our next-generation hardware, focusing on making the biggest technological leap yet in a generation.”
This desire goes hand in hand with the desire to still maintain great support for backwards compatibility, as well as the creation of a team specifically dedicated to video game preservation, a theme that becomes central for Xbox.
It is also a new confirmation of the fact that Xbox won’t stop making consoles, at least for another generation, and that hardware will still be among the possibilities provided by the company. But before this new generation there could also be the inevitable mid-generation update, with a probable completely digital Series
At this point the summer of video games, with the Xbox Showcase already confirmed, could also be an opportunity to find out more, both for games and for ideas relating to the new console.
