Ferrari aims to strengthen its resources in electrochemical research with the inauguration of theE-Cells Lab at theUniversity of Bologna. This cutting-edge research center, established under the scientific guidance of the university, is dedicated to the advancement of understanding the materials and chemical and physical properties of lithium cellsas can be read in this press release.

With E-Cells Lab the aim is to create a dedicated space equipped with cutting-edge technology to facilitate advanced analyzes and experiments. Ferrari’s constant support and promotion of the laboratory underlines his belief in the advancement of the technologies behind it lithium cellsas well as trust in the local community and in the potential of theEmilia Romagna in research.

The applications resulting from the research conducted at the E-Cells Lab will not only support the academic world, but will also be shared with the main electronics company NXP, Ferrari’s technological partner and supporter of the project. This collaboration, which could expand to include additional companies in the future, promises to broaden the scope and potential of the research.

The laboratory consists of two distinct areas: one focused on synthesis of electrochemical materialsand the other dedicated to the analysis, testing and characterization of these materials. Particular emphasis will be placed on various aspects, including solid states, fast charging, thermal propagation, cell safety and performance. The results will help Ferrari develop a shared language with its cell suppliers, with the aim of optimize battery performance which will be assembled in the factories of Maranello.

Furthermore, the project could support the work that the prancing Horse is leading on its own electric supercarwhose arrival on the markets is expected in 2025.
