The yellow jersey of the Tour de France 2024 changes hands again: after the first symbol of the lead conquered by Romain Bardet in the first stage and conquered yesterday by Tadej Pogacar, in the stage with a sprint finish in Turin he takes the leadership Richard Carapazdespite having the same overall time after three stages as Pogacar, Evenepoel and Vingegaard.
But the Ecuadorian runner from EF Education is in the lead – EasyPost by virtue of the sum of the placings obtained in these three stages. In fact, in the event of a tie in the general classification between two riders, the criterion for eliminating this parity and drawing up the classification is to analyse the sum of the placings: the one with the lower sum goes to the top.
Here are the sum of the placings in these first three stages of Carapaz, Pogacar, Evenepoel and Vingegaard:
- Richard Carapaz: 22° + 10° + 14° = 46
- Tadej Pogacar: 4° + 14° + 38° = 56
- Remco Evenepoel: 8° + 12° + 40° = 60
- Jonas Vingegaard: 16° + 13° + 68° = 97
A question clearly of pure regulation and which concerns cases such as these first stages: tomorrow in fact there will be the Alpine stage with the Galibier and at the end of the stage we most likely won’t find ourselves with a calculator in hand, given the huge difference in altitude that could start to dig the first furrows in the general classification.
