Trapani Shark announces that it has reached an agreement with John Petrucelli, an American guard-forward but of Italian education, 193 cm and 85 kg, coming from Germani Brescia. These are the first words of the player after the officialization of his agreement with the company of the president Valerio Antonini: “I am really excited to begin this new adventure in Trapani where a winning project is being created. I want to thank the President for giving me the opportunity to take part in this new adventure. I have heard great things about Trapani, its organization and the affection of its fans: I can’t wait to meet everyone”.
THE BOARD
John Petrucelli was born on October 27, 1992 in Hicksville, New York, United States. He is a dynamic wing guard, he has great leadership and is capable of creating a defensive rhythm with few equals.
From 2014 to 2016 he played 2 excellent seasons in the Slovakian first league before returning to the United States for two consecutive years where he played in the G-League, first with the Birmingham Squadron and then with the Osceola Magic, standing out mainly for his innate defensive qualities.
In the 2019-20 season he moved to the Israeli top league wearing the shirt of Hapoel Beer Sheva. Of the training sessions at coach Remi Hadar’s court he will say in an interview: “he asked me to defend all over the field and to press continuously even in training: it was exhausting but now I am grateful for the teachings”.
In the 2020/21 season he moved to the top German league where he wore the shirt of Ratiopharm Ulm with whom he also played in the Eurocup, recording numbers as an absolute protagonist: 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists on average.
The experience in Germany is a very important showcase and in the summer the call from Brescia arrives which manages to snatch him away from strong competition and bring him to Italy. In his first season with the Germani Brescia shirt he scored 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.
He immediately becomes one of the leaders of the group and this earns him reconfirmation. In the 2022/23 season comes the consecration: 15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists on average per game.
In the last 2023/24 season he is the protagonist of the incredible ride of Brescia that establishes itself as the third absolute force of the championship (for many days at the top of the Serie A standings). For John: 26 games played remaining on the field an average of 24′ per game and scoring 9.6 points seasoned with 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
Thanks to the Italian origins of his ancestors, John obtains Italian citizenship and is today one of the protagonists of the group trained by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco who is about to start the XXIII pre-Olympic tournament.
