British GP – Sargeant will miss FP1, Colapinto will take his place

The Williams Racing just announced that Logan Sargeant will not compete in the FP1 of the Grand Prix of Silverstone next weekend. In his place will be the Formula 2 driver, and winner of the Sprint Race of Imola Franco Colapinto. The 21-year-old Argentinian, a member of the Williams Racing Driver Academy programme, is currently fifth in the FIA F2 Championship standings after an excellent start to his rookie season.

The words of Franco Colapinto

Speaking about this opportunity given to him by Williams, Franco declared: “I am extremely happy and it is a very important moment in my life and career. I will prepare myself as best I can; I will do many laps on the simulator and study the details necessary to drive this year’s car. I can’t wait to try the new car after driving the one last year in Abu Dhabi. It’s a privilege to drive it at a track like Silverstone.

The Argentine then concluded his speech by saying: “To all the Argentine fans, I hope you enjoy FP1 as much as I will! It’s an important moment for our country and I’m very grateful for all the support I’ve been given. I’ll give my all to make you proud!”
