The International Clinic for Coaches organized by CNA in collaboration with the Regional Committee FIP Emilia Romagna has ended in Bologna. The Clinic was held in the Palestra dell’Arcoveggio “Gianluigi Porelli”, with 160 coaches present.
The speakers were prestigious. Nicola Brienza, winner of the “Sandro Gamba Award LBA in 2024, Andrea Mazzon, winner of the championship with Umana Reyer Venezia, opened the clinic on Saturday morning.
In the afternoon, a very interesting dialogue between Andrea Menozzi and Stefano Pillastrini on the transition from the youth sector to the senior teams.
Francesco Cuzzolin, Head of Performance Olimpia Milano, physical trainer, closed the day with a 360° speech on “Working With… or For the Coach: controversies and solutions to optimize Performance in Basketball.”
On Sunday morning, the Clinic’s guest of honor, winner of the 2024 Euroleague with Panathinaikos, Ergin Ataman, spoke. In perfect Italian, the coach opened his speech with emotion: “30 years ago, for a week, I was Ettore Messina’s guest, to learn from his training. Today I’m here to tell my experience…”. A lesson that enthused the coaches, from his philosophy of life and coaching to the technical situations on the field.
In closing Demis Cavina, born 20 kilometers from “Porelli”. He too remembered when, very young, he was in the stands following Messina’s training, a very intense career, with the successes of recent years in Cremona, a technical presentation using clips of his matches. A very high level event to affirm the importance of continuous updating and the need for unity between coaches.
