(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 01 – Ecuador will challenge Argentina in the quarter-finals of the Copa America after having qualified thanks to a draw (0-0) against Mexico, which was also eliminated, on the third and final day of the group B. After the opening win against Jamaica (1-0) then a loss against Venezuela (1-0), Mexico needed to win against Ecuador in Glendale, Arizona to finish second behind Venezuela. However, Jaime Lozano’s players were unable to beat Ecuadorian goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez, despite a one-sided match. In the second half, Feyenoord center forward Santiago Gimenez hit the post.
