Yesterday in Golferenzo, in the Oltrepò Pavese, the Italian Gravel Championship 2024 crowned the new specialty champions: Giada Borghesi and Samuele Zoccarato they won the tricolor in a race with over 300 athletes at the start.
Zoccarato’s is actually a return to victory, given that he had already achieved success in the 2022 Italian Gravel Championship in Argenta, while Borghesi confirmed his leadership in what was the third edition of the national gravel championship.
Italian Gravel Championship 2024: the men’s challenge
Over the 126 km of the test, which took place over three laps, Zoccarato took the victory alone thanks to a decisive attack during the second lap.
«The race was tough, the route was beautiful and very technical. As a pure road racer, I suffered a bit keeping up with the wheels of those who also do MTB or Gravel, but my condition is good and I managed to attack at the right moment» says the winner of the day.
Luxury double for VF Group Bardiani CSF Faizanè with second place Luca Colnaghi. Third Philip Agostinacchiowho suffered a broken derailleur during the race.

Italian Gravel Championship 2024: the women’s race
The women’s challenge of the 2024 Italian Gravel Championship saw Giada Borghesi triumph.
After managing the first part of the race in a trio with her teammate Carlotta Borello and with the biker Debora PianaBorghesi launched the decisive attack in the final kilometres which allowed her to arrive alone with her arms raised at the finish line in Golferenzo.
«I remained calm for almost the entire race because I didn’t feel like taking risks and leaving too early, but I did well because in the end I conserved the energy I needed to attack. I’m really happy to have reconfirmed myself, demonstrating my good condition despite the illness I had during the week» commented Borghesi.
Completing the women’s podium were Borello and Piana, with the biker from Vicenza now living in Trentino recalling at the finish line: «Gravel is a discipline that I like and that I use as preparation for my MTB races.»
