First day of July, time for contractual deadlines throughout Europe, even at Olimpia Milano. Since midnight some agreements have failed, in the meantime the club is planning the next stages of the transfer market, here’s how.
Contractual deadlines
Johannes Voigtmann ends his experience with Olimpia Milano after two years, culminating with two Scudetti as a member of the 12 of the LBA Finals.
The German will not remain in the red and white as will Billy Baron, who has been physically damaged for months, and Denzel Valentine.
Shabazz Napier’s agreement has also expired, for which however nothing has yet been decided. However, Maodo Lo still has one year left on his contract and no longer seems to be part of the club’s plans. He will need to find an exit agreement.
Kyle Hines’ Decision
Kyle Hines’ contract also expired, and a decision on his future is expected soon.
A choice that has been well known for some time, and which involves retirement, the end of an extraordinary career (he is the most successful American in the EuroLeague, as well as the player with the most appearances in the top continental competition), and farewell to an honored club for 4 seasons with extraordinary plays and three Scudetti.
Kyle Hines is currently in Greece, an announcement could come when he returns to the United States.
The club’s moves
Announcements could also arrive this week from Ousmane Diop, who has already said goodbye to Dinamo Sassari, and Leandro Bolmabro, for whom the exit clause from Bayern is activated.
A winger with handler skills, a small forward and a foreign center remain in play. There would be no particular rush, but a lot could materialize in Las Vegas, where the most important Summer League begins on July 12th.
Olimpia Milano’s general states were present in the stands: Ettore Messina, Christos Stavropoulos and Gianmaria Vacirca. The 2024-2025 roster is taking shape.
