The market is igniting Trapani Shark with Valerio Antonini’s club which has made the signing of Richard Rossato. The first words of the point guard, this season at Givova Scafati. “I am really happy to be part of this new and ambitious project. I thank President Antonini and the management staff for giving me this opportunity. From the first moment I perceived the desire to do things in a big way, and this convinced me to embrace the project. All we have to do is get down to work because we want to be protagonists of an important season. Greetings to all the fans, always present even away from home, who I am sure will give us a big hand”.

THE CARREER – Riccardo Rossato was born in Venice on September 18, 1996. He is a modern point guard, with great leadership and game vision. He began his professional career at a very young age, making his debut in A2 with Assigeco Piacenza in the 2013/14 season. Despite his young age, he quickly became a leader and in his last season in Piacenza (2016/17) he averaged 6 points. In the 2017/18 season he moved to Viola Reggio Calabria, also in A2, where he remained for two years: in the second season he averaged 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the 29 games played.

In 2018/19, the turning point for Riccardo’s career came when he accepted the proposal of the ambitious Scafati. In 2020, he immediately won the Super Cup but Scafati failed to make the jump to the next category. Year after year, he first became the technical and emotional leader and then the team’s captain. In every season, he always managed to take a step forward in his personal technical-tactical growth process, helping the team achieve its most ambitious goal: winning the championship in the 2021/22 season. In this wonderful year, he recorded 14 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists on average, an impressive haul especially in terms of continuity and this earned him a reconfirmation the following year, even upstairs.

In his first year in Serie A, with Scafati’s shirt he achieved salvation and managed to find his space straight away: on his debut in the top flight, he recorded 9.5 points on average, in 20.5 minutes on average usage per game, hitting 49.5% of twos, 38.1% of threes and 87.5% of free throws. Numbers that earned him the nomination (the only Italian among the five candidates) for the LBA Awards 2023 as revelation player of the year 2023 (later won by the American Colbey Ross). Riccardo’s great growth convinced the Scafatese management to renew the captain’s contract also in 2023/24 and, in the season just concluded, he achieved almost 10 points on average in approximately 23 minutes of use. The shooting percentages were also excellent: 42.5% from 2, 31% from 3 and 82% from free throws.
