Wimbledon: program, prize money and TV: the complete guide

New week and new month, but above all new tournament. And what a tournament: Wimbledon, the third Slam of the season, the most iconic tennis event in the world, will begin on Monday 1 July. After Friday’s draw (which gave the number 1 in the ranking, Jannik Sinner, a very tough draw) now all that remains is to wait: the calm before the storm. Two weeks of great non-stop tennis, obviously rain permitting even if the presence of two covered courts (Centre Court and Court 1) will guarantee the taking place of a good number of matches as happened a few weeks ago at Roland Garros.

programming

On Monday it will immediately be the turn of Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini. We start from the top of the scoreboard, as per tradition the reigning champion (Carlos Alcaraz) will inaugurate the tournament on Central. Therefore, unless the schedule is disrupted due to rain and assuming a Sinner path until the end of the tournament, Jannik will play on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday (first week), with the quarterfinals on Tuesday and the semi-final on Friday of the second week , with a finale on Sunday. As for the women’s draw, we will start on Monday with the lower part, therefore also with Jasmine Paolini, since – again by tradition – the reigning champion (Iga Swiatek, in the upper part) opens the day on Tuesday.

even doubles

Men and women will play together until Wednesday of the week, the day on which the quarter-finals will close. On Thursday the 11th it will be the turn of the women’s semi-finals, with the final on Saturday; Friday 12th men’s semi-finals, with final on Sunday. As has been the case since 2022, they will also be played on Middle Sunday, the Sunday of the first week, a historically rest day at the Championships. With the doubles (special observers Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli, champions on the grass of Halle) will start on Wednesday 3 July, therefore on the third day of the tournament: on Saturday 13 there will be the men’s final, on Sunday 14 the women’s.

prize money and TV

As is now customary, the prize money at Wimbledon will be incredible: this edition of the Championships will be the richest Slam ever, with 50 million pounds (from 44.7 last year), almost 60 million euros (59 million and 370 thousand). It will surpass last year’s US Open, with its 58 million and 714 thousand euros. The champion at the All England Club will take home a cheque for 2 million dollars and 700 thousand pounds, or over 3 million and 200 thousand euros: the finalist will earn half, the same goes for the semi-finalists compared to the finalist. Whoever goes out in the first round will still pocket over 71 thousand euros (60 thousand pounds). Mind-boggling numbers for a star-studded tournament, visible in Italy on Sky Sport and also streaming on Now TV. We’re almost there.
