Talent and discontinuity. Stefanos Tsitsipas it’s one of the best tennis players in the world currently number 11 of the ATP rankings, but never managed to definitively explode. A few years ago, many expected the Greek to have the same impact on the circuit that they had Jannik Sinner And Carlos Alcaraz. Tsitsipas today however has 25 years old, has never gone higher than number 3 in the ranking (reached in 2021) and has never won a Slam. This season his exploits signed him to the Masters 1000 Montecarlo, but otherwise the usual mixed performances arrived. So much so that in his team there are those who have decided to throw in the towel. The athletic trainer Christos Fiotakiswho explained his choice with a direct and brutal statement: “I don’t think Tsitsipas’ priority is tennis.”

The now former member of the team massacred the Greek tennis player in an interview given to the portal SDNA Fiotakis: “We have different priorities. I am not satisfied with thework ethic by Stefanos. I don’t think its main goal whether playing tennis, climbing to the top step of the rankings and win the Slams“. Not only that, Fiotakis explained: “I results they goals that I had set myself as a coach they didn’t arrive. However, I am satisfied with our work, because we allowed Stefanos to get back on your feetto be a healthy athlete and competitive at a high level after the injury he suffered last year. There are some things that are however out of my control: the climate in the team it’s not the right one. I hope at some point understand that what I tell him is correct and that he can get on the first step of the podium.”

Very harsh words and beliefs which led the athletic trainer to drop Tsitsipas before the start of the grass season (the Greek could face Jannik Sinner at the ATP quarterfinals in Halle) and in view of the Olympic Games: “I can’t travel seven months straight if the goals aren’t ambitious. I have a lot of work at home and I prefer to share my energy with other people in my daily life, trying to make them fitter and get what they want, without stress,” concluded Fiotakis.
