no defamation, Egonu lawsuit dismissed – ilBustese.it

Paola Egonu’s complaint towards the general Roberto Vannacci has been archived. The League MEP announced this with a post on social media. “I sincerely thank the lawyer Massimiliano Manzo, and all his staff, for the excellent work done. The investigating judge of Lucca, Alessandro Dal Torrione, in the two-page order, expressed himself in favor of the dismissal regarding the accusation, disputed by me, of defamation against the volleyball player Paola Egonu”, writes Vannacci. The case was linked to the sentences about the Italian volleyball star contained in the book ‘The world upside down’, the first volume published by the general.

As Vannacci reports “there does not appear to be an exceeding of the limit of continence which can be said to be indicative of the desire on the part of the suspect to gratuitously offend Egonu’s reputation, as well as to denigrate her, to diminish her value, to make an undue attack on the person”.

In May, Vannacci sent a letter to Egonu. “Never apologized” to the athlete “there are no reasons”, he said, referring to the letter. It was “only clarifications already expressed in dozens of interviews. Among other things, I reiterated that Mrs. Egonu’s somatic characteristics do not represent the vast majority of Italians”, concluded the former Folgore paratrooper.
