Giovanni Aleotti resists at the head of the Tour of Slovenia 2024. After the victory in the third stage which also gave him the leader’s jersey of the general classification, the rider of Bora – hansgrohe he also fought hard in the uphill finish of the fourth stage, reaching the finish line in third place behind Pello Bilbao (Bahrain – Victorious), author of a burning sprint at the end which allowed him to gain 3 seconds on his opponents, and to Paul Double (Polti – Kometa). In doing so, Aleotti maintained a 12″ lead over the Spaniard in the general classification ahead of the final stage.
“It was a very hard day with the long climb at the end – comments the native of Mirandola – I am really grateful to the team for the support, because it allowed me to fully concentrate on the final climb. In the end I lost a few seconds but third place is still a good result. Tomorrow I expect a lot of attacks, but we have a strong team and we will try to do everything we can to defend first place“.
Everyone in the German team is ready to support the captain to guarantee him victory, as the sporting director also confirms Bernhard Eisel: “The stage went almost perfect for us. Giovanni was one of the strongest riders in the final and his performance was undoubtedly impressive. Even if the ranking looks very good now, the last stage will be anything but easy. Our opponents will certainly not hand us victory on a silver platter, we expect a very challenging race“.
