Norris and the fight for the Constructors’ Championship: McLaren can count on two drivers

There is a fight for the Constructors’ championship? At the moment it seems so, thanks to one Ferrari all in all not very far despite Canada’s failure to pass and above all thanks to one McLaren now firmly in front and capable of putting pressure on Red Bull.

McLaren recovers 10 points in 4 GPs

Since the Woking team introduced the updates in Miami, the papaya-colored team is the one that has scored the most points: between Miami, Imola, Monte Carlo and Montreal, McLaren collected 116 points, Red Bull 106 and Ferrari 101. Red Bull leads the Constructors’ classification with 301 points, 49 more than Ferrari and 89 more than McLaren, but cannot remain calm especially considering Perez’s difficulties, capable of collecting just 22 points in the last four race weekends.

GP Canada: the 5 themes of the weekend

McLaren VS Red Bull: two is better than one

Perhaps McLaren and Ferrari have not fully taken advantage of the Mexican’s dark period, considering that in terms of points they have remained more or less in line with Red Bull, but Verstappen currently seems to be racing alone for the Constructors, an advantage that McLaren must exploit , as Lando Norris explained in the press conference after the Canadian GP: “To be honest, I think between us and Ferrari we will continue to push and yes, I think this is one of our biggest strengths at the moment. We as McLaren have two drivers up there, who don’t make any mistakes and pretty much get the most out of the car every single weekend. It’s rare that there aren’t many other teams on the grid capable of doing the same.

For the moment for us it’s more about looking at what we can do against Ferrari, but once again we were the most consistent team of the weekend. They made some mistakes and struggled a little more for some reason. But in the end I think having two riders is better than having just one, as is the case with Max at the moment. We’re doing a good job, but we need to keep pushing, try to bring more updates and things like that. Because with the arrival of Mercedes, it will be even more difficult to get as many points as in Montreal.”
