Emma Raducanu confident: “I’m finally healthy now”

Every time she takes to the field there is always great curiosity to see her, Emma Raducanu is among the most anticipated athletes on the women’s circuit and this despite a career that has seen only one real exploit.

Many things have changed since the victory at the US Open a few years ago, the British woman has had constant physical problems, a career with few good performances and Emma has almost never shown the level that allowed her to make history and win a title a few years ago of the Grand Slam.

This year the Briton has played few matches, missed tournaments due to yet another operation and in a few hours the Briton will return to the field, she will play in her home WTA tournament in Nottingham and there is great curiosity about her level of play.

Raducanu spoke to The Guardian: “When I underwent two operations I couldn’t even use crutches, I had a cast on one hand and a splint on the other and my ankle was also immobilized. For an active girl like me it was really very hard.”

This season Raducanu has collected 7 victories in 14 matches played, a track record that is not extraordinary but which at least shows the glass as half full: “Thinking about my body now I feel good and I’m healthy.

I did an amazing job with my coach after the surgery, I’m fit and can’t wait to play. I think my wrists are fine and I have no doubts about how to hit the ball. Forfeit at Roland Garros? I don’t need to accelerate to win at Roland Garros, we know that wasn’t my goal this year.

I had to prioritize doing a good job on my physical condition and I feel that things are going well. I’m ready to play the grass season.”
