He triumphed at the Australian Open, the first Italian in the tournament’s roll of honor and the first blue to win a Slam in men’s singles since 1976, and at the Masters 1000 in Miami. In this category of tournaments he also boasts two semi-finals in Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo. The Pole, who triumphed in Paris for the fourth time, the third in a row, maintains a huge advantage, 3,707 points, over the American Coco Gauffsemi-finalist at Roland Garros, who achieved the ‘best ranking’ by overtaking the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, who took the third step of the podium, now 200 points behind.

Also in fourth place is the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, ahead of the other American Jessica Pegula, forced to withdraw from the French Major. Czech Marketa Vondrousova came sixth. Behind Paolini, in eighth place, there is still the Chinese Qinwen Zheng – the second tennis player from her country to reach the world elite after Li Na – who precedes the Greek Maria Sakkari, immediately out in Paris, who takes two steps back and it’s ninth. Closing the world elite is the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, tenth, also with one position less than the previous ranking. The American Danielle Collins abandons the top ten, at least for the moment, and slips to eleventh position.
