F1, Max Verstappen tames the rain and wins a crazy GP in Montreal ahead of Norris, Ferrari both retired

Max Verstappen wins a crazy race in Montreal: the Dutchman takes the Canadian Grand Prix for the third time in a row. Between rain and sun, strategic errors on the part of McLaren on Lando Norris, the three-time world champion was able to take advantage of all situations to win the 60th race of his glorious career. On the podium in addition to Norris there is George Russell, while a total disaster on the part of the two Ferraris, both of which retired: Leclerc due to engine problems, Sainz due to an error that led to him spinning when he was outside the points zone.

A totally crazy and unpredictable race from the start: we start in wet conditions with intermediate tyreand Russell has an excellent starting point that allows him to maintain the lead ahead of Verstappen and Norris. The start of the two Ferraris was not extraordinarywith Leclerc managing to recover two positions and climb to ninth, while Sainz actually fell to fifteenth position.

Those who draw the wild card are the two Haas, which started with full wet tires and, during the laps where the tire was particularly wet, were the absolute fastest cars of the entire group. Magnussen got up to fourth place, passing Piastri, while Hulkenberg pushed himself up to eighth place. Those who continue to struggle are Ferrari, with Leclerc’s alarming team radio “There’s something strange with the engine” which quickly finds substance.

Leclerc struggles to drive the car with the engine problem and he doesn’t have particular speed on the straight, not being able to push as hard as he can. After about fifteen laps the McLaren surges forward, quietly in the initial race conditions. Lap after lap, Norris puts more and more pressure on Verstappen and passes him, before overtaking Russell too and take over the leadership of the Grand Prix.

All the cards on the table change again with Sargeant’s accident which causes a safety car: at the McLaren garage they are not reactive in allowing people to return to the pits Norris who, after the pit stop, will return behind Verstappen and Russell, who had anticipated the stop. Leclerc tries to play a wild card and mount slick tires in rainy conditions while waiting for the track to dry, a gamble that doesn’t pan out and will effectively lead the Monegasque to retire.

The sun finally comes out for the last 30 laps of the race and everyone makes a pit stop to put on slick tyres. Norris stays out two laps longer than Verstappen, and after the stop he returns together with the Dutchman, but he is unable to stay in front due to the tire still being cold and slippery. Norris who then engages in a duel with Russell, the Mercedes driver first passes, then makes a mistake at the chicane and gives up second position again.

Everything happens between the 53rd and 54th laps: first Perez ends up in the wall and completely damages the rear of the car, ending a nightmare weekend. How Ferrari also concludes a nightmare weekend, with the spin of Carlos Sainz who is forced to withdraw the car and also pushes the innocent Alexander Albon into the wall. The safety car then enters the track and comes out with 12 laps to go.

In the finale there are several duels ahead: Piastri defends himself excellently in the wheel-to-wheel with Russell. The Briton touches the young McLaren driver and in turn loses position to his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Piastri himself is then passed by a super Hamilton who sets the fastest lap in 1:15.074. The Australian collapses and this time is passed by Russell. At the end the latter earned third position against Hamilton, who gave him the podium.
