There Lidl – Trek continues its search for new talents to launch into the world of cycling. The announcement, which came directly from the official Twitter profile of the American team, of the signing of the contract that will bind Paul Verbnjak to the US team starting August 1 of this year. The young Austrian thus officially enters the world of cycling, combining two wheels with what is his main sport, namely ski mountaineering. For the 22-year-old, already among the best athletes in the world in winter sport, this is the first contract to race a bike after last year he had already taken part in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d’Aosta, a race reserved for Under 23s, with the Representative of his nation.
The path of the native of Klagenfurt resembles in many ways that of other runners who switched to cycling after an initial part of their career in winter disciplines. The most striking case is that of Primož Roglič (Bora – hansgrohe), who transformed himself from a ski jumper into one of the most successful cyclists of recent years.
