The morning session of the first day of the championship begins positively in a blue key 2024 European Athletics Championshipscurrently taking place at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. The three Italians involved in the 100 hurdles heats have in fact achieved the objective of qualifying for the semi-finalsreserved for the best 11 overall heat times.

The best of our color bearers turned out to be Veronica Besana, who finished the first of the three heats in fifth position, running in 13.05 (wind +0.1 m/s) and achieving the sixth overall time in the preliminary round. Performance slightly below expectations however Giada Carmassi, who nevertheless survived by finishing fourth in the last heat and ninth overall in 13.13 with zero wind.

Also qualified for broken headphones Elena Carraro, unlucky to compete in a second heat characterized by the disqualification for a false start of the Polish Klaudia Wojtunik and by a strong headwind (-1.3 m/s). The 23-year-old from Brescia, preceded only by the Slovenian Nika Glojnaric due to a slip, ran in 13.23, obtaining the eleventh and final time to reach the semifinals. The best time of the morning was set by the Finnish Lotta Harala in 12.91, but the big teams will enter the game from the next round (the 12 “seeded” teams were directly admitted to the semi-final).
