Everything is ready in Rome for the start of the European Athletics Championships which, from Friday 7 to Tuesday 12 June, will see many stars participate in what is in effect the prelude to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The team ofItaly is made up of 116 athletes (63 men and 53 women), a number never reached before.
European Athletics Championships, the Italians competing today
Many Italian players were protagonists on the opening day of the European event, with all eyes focused in particular on Antonella Palmisano, chasing a medal in the 20 km race walk, a category in which she boasts the title of Olympic champion. Also present in the same race Eleonora Giorgi And Valentina Trapletti. Great anticipation too Matteo Furlani in the long jump qualifiers, fresh from the under 20 world record with 8.36. Spotlight also on Leonardo Fabbri And Zane Weir in the shot put qualifications, up Catalin Tecuceanu in the men’s 800m heats and in the last two races of the day: the debut of the 4x400m mixed relay in a continental championship and the women’s 5,000m with Nadia Battocletti, Federica Del Buono And Micol Majori on the way.
