Alpine, Ocon’s maneuver could cost him dearly: Mick Schumacher in his place?

Mick Schumacher’s hopes of returning to Formula 1 as soon as possible may have taken a big step forward and his future would in fact depend on Esteban Ocon. Yesterday the Frenchman was the protagonist of a dangerous maneuver against his teammate, Pierre Gasly, who pointed the finger at Ocon, claiming that he had violated the “respect” of a team order taken before the start. Alpine team principal Bruno Famin flew into a rage and now Ocon’s future with the team hangs in the balance.

“Esteban’s maneuver was completely inappropriate. We will learn from this – he declared to Canal Plus, adding that the accident compromised the team.

“That’s why we’re going to make a tough decision and we’re going to make it quickly.”

Ocon was punished by Race Direction with two penalty points on his super licence, as well as being dropped five places on the grid in Montreal, scheduled to take place in two weeks. As regards the drivers’ market, while on the one hand Gasly’s renewal with Alpine in 2025 is certain, the same cannot be said of Ocon, who has made no secret of his desire to change teams.

Precisely in relation to this, Famin has not hidden his interest in Mick Schumacher for some time:

“Everything is open for 2025. Everyone talks to everyone. Mick is very fast, but in the WEC you also need to have a good team spirit. He has a great relationship with his teammates. It would be a mistake not to have Mick on the list.”
