Piastri “becomes” Leclerc in FP1 but there is a reason behind the F1 graphics

In the graphic of the top 3 at the end of the FP1 of the Monaco GP, F1 has “transformed” Piastri into Leclerc. But there is a reason behind all this.

The Monaco GP weekend opened with a curious social scenetaken from F1 with the graphics at the end of FP1, concerning Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc. It all started from a tweet from the Australian McLaren driver who had declared on X that he was looking for a Monegasque relative within his family tree.

If you want I can adopt you“, was Charles Leclerc’s immediate response which gave rise to a nice back and forth between the two. From the “I can’t wait to meet my little brother Leo” (Leclerc’s dog who became a star on social media, ed.) at “I have some questions” by Piastri’s mother, the fans on social media watched this episode with amusement.

It all seemed to end there until Formula 1 decided to bring the topic back to life at the end of free practice. In FP1, in fact, Oscar Piastri finished in second place and was renamed “Oscar Piastri-Leclerc” in the graphics published by F1.. The most attentive fans immediately noticed the thing, so much so that it went viral in just a few minutes.

Charles Leclerc himself responded to the photo of the top 3 with a “mixed feelings in the Leclerc family after FP1“. The Ferrari driver in fact damaged the bottom of his SF-24 due to some debris left on the track by Zhou’s Sauber.
