World of sport in shock: number one arrested

The world of sport is literally shocked by what recently happened: the number one had been arrested

Unbelievable news that has left the world of sport stunned, especially that of golf. The story sees as the protagonist (absolutely negative) Scottie Scheffler. According to what was reported by some sources and American media, it seems that the 27 years old attempted to force a police checkpoint. The latter had closed the road after the death of a pedestrian who had been hit by a heavy vehicle.

After he was released Scheffler once again gave his fans a show with a solo ride 66 shots. His CV speaks for itself given that he is currently number one in the PGA rankings. He recently won the Masters. Even though, in these last few hours, there has been a lot of talk about him not because of his golfing skills but because of his arrest. A policeman, at that moment, was regulating traffic towards the “Valhalla Golf Club of Louisville”, right where the Pga Championship.

From the first reconstructions it seems that, at the entrance to the club, a real traffic jam had been created (witnesses state that it was 5 in the morning) when a passer-by was hit by a bus while he was crossing the lane dedicated to coaches. A terrible impact to say the least: there was absolutely nothing the man could do.

Golf in shock, Scheffler arrested: his statements

The golfer apparently tried to get past the blockade despite police telling him he couldn’t. The officer even grabbed onto Scheffler’s car. After stopping the car, the athlete and the policeman had an argument. The same one that ended with the arrest of the 27-year-old. When he was about to be handcuffed, the golfer had asked for help from a journalist from the television station “Espn” who was passing by at the time and had seen the scene.

The charges against him are very serious given that they include second-degree assault against a police officer, third-degree criminal acts, reckless driving and failure to obey traffic signs by an officer directing traffic. All things considered, Scheffler was later released. It was not announced whether one was paid bail or the charges have been dropped.

What is certain is that after his release he returned to Valhalla to continue the tournament. The tournament was postponed by an hour. Scheffler, 12th after the first lap (finished -4) 5 strokes behind the leader Xander Schauffele, began its tour at 4.08pm Italian time. Shortly before resuming the tournament she had posted a long message on her official channel Instagram: “This morning I was walking down the entrance road to the club. Very chaotic situation due to the tragic accident. There was a huge misunderstanding. I never thought of transgressing. I hope the matter has been resolved. A hug to the family of the deceased man“.
