UPDATE: along the Brenner motorway the snake of trucks heading to Austria after the Pentecost holiday reached a length of one hundred kilometers. The queue at times started from Egna, south of Bolzano, to reach the state border. Only in the afternoon did the situation slowly improve. The driving ban came into force at midday on Saturday and was extended by the Pentecost holiday yesterday in German-speaking countries. This morning the heavy traffic started moving again (or rather queuing).

BOLZANO. Difficult day regarding traffic in South Tyrol. After the ban on trucks Pentecost holiday yesterday (20 May) in the German-speaking world, this morning a long snake of trucks headed towards the Brenner Pass set off (or rather queued up).

The truck queue is currently long 80 kilometers and it comes from the border up to Bolzano north. Light traffic also slowed down between southern Bolzano and Chiusa.

Added to this is the Tour of Italy which today crosses Alto Adige, literally cutting Bolzano in two for a few hours, with no possibility of crossing the South Tyrolean capital from north to south and vice versa.

The pink caravan arrives from Switzerland to Tubre, and then crosses the Val Venosta and the Val d’Adige. After Bolzano the cyclists will continue towards Fiè and Val Gardena, where the stage arrival is expected.
