Olbia. The two days dedicated to the memory of the young Achille Barabino are starting, a tribute dedicated to him on Friday 24 May and Saturday 1 June. The two events in memory of the young man were presented in the assembly hall of the Mossa scientific high school in the presence of the director Gigi Antoliniof the president of Atletica Olbia Gianni Carboniand the Olbia rugby manager Vincenzo Gentile, the municipal councilor for Sport was present Elena Casu, in fact the Municipality also participates, we collaborate in the creation of moments where sport, sharing, solidarity and friendship are the starting values. Moments of reflection therefore with a spirit of play and interrelation between the different groups, “Sport is life” says the slogan.
The “Run with Achilles” race to be held on Friday 24 May will be attended by the city’s primary schools, lower and upper secondary schools, which have been invited to Friday’s event. In the morning all the students will be involved in a race non-competitive in Piazza Crispi starting from 8.30am, children and young people from different schools will be involved in turn. The second part of the event which will be held on June 1st and will see the field busy and festive of Olbia Rugby of which Achille was part, he tells us Maurizio Spanohead of the association.
Spano speaks with great emotion of the affection and involvement with which the entire community, the entire city, responded. “Our club has 200 members, but beyond the athletes there are families, a beautiful reality has been created and we have all missed a son. Achille has changed the rules of the game, with his absence everyone’s reality and everyday life we have changed, we are much more careful and vigilant.” Spano’s voice remains firm and he adds warmly “The kids must not feel and be alone, and precisely with a view to of sharing, solidarity and the concept of team Saturday at 11 we will receive other Rugby clubs from Sassari, Cagliari, Oristano, Capoterra and Sinnai.”
Spano continues: “we will try to form 4 teams and we will play in an unusual way, we will all have the same shirts, one team will be yellow and one black, like our colours, and we will all have Achille’s number, 18. After about an hour of the game, the time for the party will come get together all together, a share what has been prepared by all the people who have given us and are giving us a hand, solidarity, team spirit and empathy are once again witnesses of an event that is open to all.” An event that will be the first testimony of the city and of the Island reunited for Achilles and with Achilles.
