Rugby Serie A Elite – Andrea Bronzini, from Viadana with fury: “It’s all true, we’re in the final!”

VIADANA The euphoria in the Viadana household does not subside following the victory obtained on Saturday at Zaffanella (18-16, comeback) over Valorugby Reggio which opened the doors for the gialloneri to the final scheduled for 2 June at the Lanfranchi in Parma against Petrarch Padua. A goal that the coastal residents had not reached for 14 years. Anticipation is growing in the town and the fans are already organizing to invade the nearby ducal city. Opposite, as mentioned, there will be the Petrarca of Marcato and the former Jimenez, and not the reigning champion Rovigo, the only team capable of beating (twice) Viadana this season. It will be a final characterized by balance, without a favorite team, as the results of the regular season demonstrate: draw (27-27) in the first leg match in Padua and narrow success (19-18) for the lions in the Zaffanella. The team has resumed training under the orders of the technical staff led by Gilberto Pavan. June 2nd is still far away, but the adrenaline in the group is already very high. The players know they have earned the chance to rewrite the history of the club and among them, the Viadanese native Andrea Bronzini will certainly have special motivations. «It’s my first final – says the three-quarter winger – I’m proud to be able to play in it, proud to have reached this goal together with the team. Ours is a young group, Padova is more experienced and used to this type of challenge, but in a dry final anything can happen.”
«We knew that we would have to suffer – continues Bronzini regarding the victory against Valorugby – that too was in fact a dry match, with very high stakes, entry to the final. We weren’t able to show our best game, also thanks to our opponents, but winning was what mattered and the objective was achieved. And now we prepare to play the last match, the most important one.”
A few kilometers separate Parma from Viadana, the fans are already in excitement. «There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Zaffanella on Saturday – says Bronzini – the fans gave us a great boost and it’s nice to know that there will be a lot of them in Parma too. But we have to focus on the match and the opponent. This season we have always prepared as best we can, in training, for every single match. Naturally we will do the same for the final against Padova, in which we will try to express our best rugby. It’s the match we dreamed of playing. We will arrive ready.”
