There was anticipation to discover the first visible innovations of the Update package on the Ferrari SF-24. The second day of testing in Fiorano, with Leclerc at the wheel this morning for the total 200 km granted by the filming day, offered the first indications on the developments on its debut in Imola.
The most obvious detail is theevolution of the sockets on the sides of the cockpit. A solution that replaces the lower tray with the extension of the upper portion of the bellies. An intervention that will help optimize the management of flows in the lower part of the bellies, the area where the volumes have been revised, as well as in the upper portion of the bellies themselves.
Another obvious intervention, the new cover around the power unit: from the air vents to the volume of the bodywork around the exhaust, for the extraction of hot air towards the rear wing, the evolution is clear. The new solution involves a single opening but with a larger section compared to the gills seen up to Miami.
Where, however, the developments could have the greatest impact on performance is in the new fund, a crucial component of the package of updates to try to further reduce the gap to Red Bull.
