MATELICA (AN) – La Logiman Broni achieves a heroic feat by conquering the PalaChemiba in Cerreto d’Esi and beating the Halley Thunder Matelica 65-66 in the decisive game 3 of the quarter-finals of the women’s Serie A2 playoffs. The Lombards, already ahead 1-0 in the series, thus gain the pass to the semi-final, where they will face the Delser Crich Udine.
The match starts with a very high score, especially thanks to a wild Giulia Moroni who scores 5 triples in the first 3 minutes. The Bronesi team also reached +10, but Matelica didn’t give up and, thanks to the energy of Georgieva and Kraujunaite, managed to get back into the game and close the first half at 36-42.
In the second and third half the match becomes more balanced, with both teams fighting point for point. The hosts, led by an excellent Gramaccioni, also manage to overtake their opponents, but Broni does not give up and, thanks to Coser’s experience and Moroni’s continuous jab, remains in the game.
The last quarter is a real thriller, with the two teams constantly exchanging overtaking. With 20 seconds left, with the score 64-64, Lucrezia Coser scores the decisive basket that puts Broni ahead. Matelica has the last chance to equalize, but Georgieva’s shot at the siren goes off the rim, giving the Lombard team the victory.
Logiman Broni’s victory is the result of a great team effort. In addition to Moroni’s 25 points, Coser (21 points), Labanca (6 points) and Bonvecchio (10 points) stand out.
