Bari, Polito attacked with kicks and punches in a service station

Bari’s troubles never end, falling into the relegation zone. Yesterday, a couple of hours after the match against Cittadella (which ended 1-1), the sporting director of the Apulian club Ciro Polito was attacked by four pseudo Bari fans, at a motorway service station near Occhiobello on the A13 Padua – Bologna. During a very heated brawl, the Bari manager, in the company of his wife, was apparently hit by a few slaps and a strong push. Digos investigations began immediately to ascertain the identity of those responsible and the circumstances of the episode. The images from the camera system, placed inside the service station, will obviously be valuable. Polito was the only one of the Bari group to leave Cittadella by car, while the rest of the team returned to Bari by plane.

“SSC Bari expresses closeness and solidarity to DS Ciro Polito, victim yesterday evening of a real attack by unknown persons, after the Cittadella-Bari match – is the statement published by the red and white club -. The red and white manager, while he was parked at a service station on the way back from the Venetian city, he was approached and verbally and physically attacked by a group of unknown persons who immediately fled. The competent authorities who intervened immediately started identification procedures of the responsible subjects. The red and white club strongly condemns what happened at the hands of ‘cowards’ who have nothing to do with the Bari fans and with sport, waiting for justice to take its course, when reason leaves room for violence We’ve already lost everyone.”
