The Galletti also confirmed themselves in the last championship match: the season ended with a full 69-10 victory over San Benedetto, which allowed Romagna to conclude the championship unbeaten with 105 points.
The Romagna team took home 5 points from the trip to San Benedetto, in a match well managed in all phases right from the opening stages: Marini’s goal opened the match, which continued with another goal from the Romagna team, with Scermino scoring . The hosts try to respond and close the gap with an unconverted try, but it’s not enough because in the 12th minute a new attack comes from the cockerels, with Maroncelli, whose try – converted by Giannuli – moves the score to 19-5. Around half an hour of play, the Romagna team picked up the pace again and in the space of a couple of minutes they went further with two more converted goals (Sergi and Fantini were the authors): the first half ended with Romagna’s sixth goal, scored again by Captain Maroncelli.
The second half instead opens in favor of San Benedetto, who with Scarpantonio finds the second goal of the day, but it does not change the balance of the match. In fact, the Galletti responded again with Maroncelli, who scored a goal for the third time in the 7th minute, making the score 43-10. The initiative remains entirely in the hands of the guests, who in the last quarter of the match press on the accelerator again: in the space of a few minutes, between the 22nd and 26th minutes, a new sequence of goals arrives, with the young players as protagonists of the group, coming on from the bench: Piccirillo, Perju and D’Agostino scored and Giannuli was precise in all three transformations. The Romagna team’s last breakthrough came in the 33rd minute, with Fiori’s goal, sealing the result at 69-10.
The championship therefore ends in the best possible way for the Romagna team, which with this wonderful journey has ensured its return to Serie A for next season.
