Serie A, Juventus, Inter and all the clubs are rebelling against the Government’s maneuver to control football and the background

Serie A is worried and with it all the big clubs. The Government, in fact, is about to establish a new body called upon to control the accounts of football clubs. It will be called Agency for the economic and financial supervision of professional sports clubsAnd. The information has already reached all those directly involved, in a document developed by the institutions and notified to Cones and Figc. Drastic changes on the horizon for the already shaking world of football?

Gravina’s concern: emergency meeting called

In essence, the task of this new agency would be to take the place of the current Covisoc. The latter is an autonomous but internal body of the FIGC structure. Upon hearing the news, Gabriele Gravina acted immediately, urgently calling a meeting scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (Monday 6 May) at 6 pm with all the presidents of the federal components. The motivations? The independence of sport from politics and a series of elements to be clarified regarding the tasks of the new body.

Federal Council downsized: one of the charges

It is clear that the sports authorities would be reduced in size. One of the examples that will be brought to the fore relates to registration for the various championships. Since there is a body responsible for checking accounts, the Federal Council would no longer have the power to decide on the basis of internal codes who is admitted and who is not to the championship. Behind her, in fact, there would be an evidently superior institution that would take away all her power. We will see if there will be any clarifications from this point of view in tomorrow’s meeting.

That phrase reported by the Corriere…

In the Corriere della Sera there is a sentence that remains anonymous, which comes from the world of football and which makes us understand the sentiment that surrounds the Government: “Let’s not talk about regimes, but there is no doubt that it is a tense entry of politics into sport, football in particular...”. Among the presidents of Serie A there is the perception of intrusive behavior on the part of politicians. Also because, as someone points out, the clubs that participate in the cups are already under the aegis of UEFA, which grants licenses after checks and the requirements to pass the checks are very strict.

Feelings with the Government at historic lows. The precedent of the Growth Decree

Meanwhile, there is some concern in the world of football. The feeling with the Government is at an all-time low, also recalling the precedent of the abolition of the so-called Growth Decree. According to the clubs, this move has taken away a lot of competitiveness from our clubs who are already struggling to attract top names on the market given the competition from foreign teams (in particular from the Premier League). Now that the institutions are also starting to look into the accounts, it will certainly not please Juventus, Inter and company by singing.
