At 9:00 am on Thursday 2 April, 5:00 pm in Australia, the first match of the first edition of the U20 Rugby Championship began, the youth version of the tournament which every year sees the All Blacks, Australia, South Africa and Argentina compete for the crown of the strongest team in the southern hemisphere.

A confrontation between the four powers that has been awaited for some time and which echoes the U20 Six Nations, which has now established itself as a crucial event for the development of the best talents on the international scene and an increasingly popular event.

Furthermore, the U20 Rugby Championship is a prelude to the annual edition of the World Rugby U20 Championship, the so-called youth world championship, which will also be held this year in South Africa at the beginning of July. The four federations thus wanted to adapt to the model of the other hemisphere in order to arrive better prepared for the most important appointment.
