There Serie A League did not accept the request Rome to move the direct clash for a place in Champions League against theAtalanta. We will still play in Bergamo Sunday 12 May at 8.45pm, despite the Giallorossi having asked to take the field on Monday. A move that would have allowed the two teams to have more time to recover from the semi-finals of Europa League.
Roma’s letter and Lega Serie A’s refusal
The letter sent by Roma to the Lega Serie A read as follows: “This request arises not only from centrality of this match for the purposes of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League, but also from the need to protect and guarantee the integrity of the Serie A Championship, which we are sure represents our common objective, in order to build a valuable product that is credible for all interested parties, from the institutions to the fans”. The Giallorossi had proposed to postpone the Italian Cup final between Atalanta and Juventus, scheduled for May 15th, will be one day. However, the League was not favorable considering the fans arriving from Bergamo and Turin who have already organised. The fact is that Atalanta and Roma will barely take the field three days later the Europa League semi-finals against Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
