Misstep
He arrives in Jerez, on his home track, the first misstep of the 2024 season of the rookie of wonders, Pedro Acosta. The home KTM champion, tenth in Saturday morning’s qualifying and second yesterday in the Sprint, struggled today at the start of the race, falling to the rear – also thanks to a blow suffered by Johann Zarco in the first lap – and then had to climb back up with the knife between teeth crossing the finish line anyway tenth position.
How scary in the warm-up
The negative turn of his day, however, had already arrived in the morning, with one scary fall in the warm-up which had really made people fear the worst even for his physical safety. Acosta however, speaking to Sky Sports MotoGPcleared the field of possible ‘excuses’. “The physical problems did not affect today’s result – he commented clearly – today was just the time to understand the bike and not do something stupid like I did in qualifying or this morning. Today was not the case, but the day will come when I will make a podium here“.
Rookie mistake
“It wasn’t easy to switch from one bike to another without having ridden it all weekend – explained Acosta – But in the end the start was disastrous. On the first lap I found myself 18th or 19th and getting into the top 10 was difficult. I wasn’t at my best, but I saved today’s result with a few points. We’ll try to do more next time. All the little details make the difference and I always try to give 110%. The team always works at 150%, so I have to do at least 110%. Today we did some rookie shit that we can’t affordbut we are gaining experience“, he concluded.
