It was a day of great cycling offered by 13th Spring Touralso valid as the 4th Paolo Sant Memorial, splendidly put together by the San Vendemiano Cycling Team of the very president Gino Mazzer: crowning it was the success of Filippo Cettolin (Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita), a boy who ran on the streets of his home, already Italian Champion among students with the Velo Club San Vendemiano shirt.

THE NEWS – There were 166 athletes who started from Viale De Gasperi in San Vendemiano, on a splendid and mild spring day. After a very fast first part of the race, the group faced the first ascent of the Guizza almost compactly. During the second of the six laps scheduled on the hilly circuit of Conegliano, Ivan Toselli (Vangi Sama) took the lead alone and remained in the lead for the entire central phase of the race before being overtaken during the penultimate lap. by William Holmes (U19 Academy Region South). After tackling a few kilometers together with Toselli, the Australian restarted the action, taking off all alone towards the final stretch that led towards the finish line of San Vendemiano.

In the last 5 kilometers another 15 runners returned to the tread, thus making up the group of the best of the day who, led by a very generous Andrea Bessega (Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita), presented themselves compactly at the entrance to the finishing straight. In the limited-ranked sprint, Filippo Cettolin was the one to prevail over his opponents who, with a progression of rare power, clearly preceded Elia Andreaus (Team Giorgi) and Enea Sambinello (Vangi) on the finish line.

THE JERSEYS UP FOR WINNING – Filippo Cettolin (Borgo Molino Vigna Fiorita) thus received the first of the three special jerseys up for grabs from the 13th Giro di Primavera: the yellow jersey, valid for the 4th Paolo Sant Memorial.

Ivan Toselli (Vangi Sama) received the green one as leader of the GPM classification, also valid for the 5th Memorial Christian Cigaia, while the red jersey of Traguardi Volanti was awarded to Adam Bronakowski (Pool Cantù).

THE STATEMENTS“It was a victory I had been waiting for since last year when I finished fourth” declared Cettolin immediately after the finishing line. “Thanks certainly go to my partner Andrea Bessega who did a lot for me”.

The President of the San Vendemiano Cycling Team was also enthusiastic about the excellent success of the event, Gino Mazzer: “This year too we experienced a splendid day of cycling thanks to the commitment of these splendid boys who battled from the first to the last kilometre. I want to congratulate everyone and, in particular, to Filippo Cettolin who is like a son to us at San Vendemiano. Thanks to all the volunteers who made all this possible, to the Municipal Administration of San Vendemiano and to the sponsors without whom we couldn’t do anything.”
