The Tour of Türkiye ended without the final stage, canceled due to rain, cold and slippery roads in central Istanbul. The eighth stage of the 2.Pro category event therefore did not last long and the general classification was frozen after yesterday’s results. The Dutchman Frank van den Broek is partyingstandard bearer of Team dsm-firmenich PostNL who prevailed with a four second margin over the Eritrean Merhawi Kudus (Terengganu Cycling Team) and 9” over the British Paul Double (Team Polti Kometa).

The 23-year-old native of Warmong made the difference by winning the sixth stage with arrival in Manisa and thus conquered the first stage race of his professional career, putting his signature on the third seal among the greats (last year he won the fourth stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake). The Dutchman will return home on May 1st at Eschborn-Frankfurt and will then take part in the Tour of Hungary, which will take place at the same time as the Giro d’Italia.

The best Italian was Manuele Tardozzi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), twelfth in the standings with a delay of 45″ from the winner. Filippo Conca (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Tram) 19th, Luca Paletti (Tardozzi’s teammate 20th), Marco Tizzo (Bingoal WB) 21st.
