The President of the Province of Benevento Nino Lombardi announces that approximately one million euros of works have been entrusted with a tender for two separate extraordinary maintenance interventions on the road network in the sector called the Titerno-Tammaro Internal Area, affected by the stage of next May 14th of the Giro d’Italia cycling event
Pompeii-Cusano Mutri (Bocca della Selva). The works, worth €899,566 and €40,777 respectively, concern around 250 thousand Euros in total the safety of the sections actually traveled by cyclists during the race, while the rest of the financing is intended for safety and restoration of occasional points on the road surface of the arteries of the provincial network relating to the main route crossed by the Caravan (newspapers in tow, emergency vehicles, logistics vehicles, and sponsors’ motorbikes, etc.).
President Lombardi also communicates that contracts have been awarded in the aforementioned area on provincial roads n. 77, 78 and 83 other auction based works for the restoration of the road surface for €768,504, as well as €760,931 for the n. 84 “Sannio Alifano”.
Finally, the tender for works worth 500 thousand euros for provincial road no. is underway. 54, relating to the main road crossed by the Giro d’Italia Caravan, for the May 15th stage with departure from Foiano di Val Fortore and arrival in Francavilla al Mare. The funding for all these interventions, declared Lombardi, comes from various sources, including the use of administrative surpluses from the Province’s own budget, «demonstrating – said Lombardi – the attention and commitment made by the active Administration to guarantee safety when traveling on the provincial road network as far as possible”
