Qualifying times: the verdicts for the 2024 MotoGP pole

Qualifying for the MotoGP Spanish GP saw Marc Marquez return to pole position, making his first pole start since he moved to the Gresini team from Ducati. In a session characterized by the damp asphalt of the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, the Spaniard managed to set a 1:46.773 which allowed him to precede his closest pursuer, Marco Bezzecchi with the team’s GP23, by almost three tenths VR46. Current world championship leader Jorge Martin finished six tenths of a second behind and still managed to gain a place on the front row of the starting grid for today’s race.

Smaller gaps however between the riders who classified from 4th to 8th place with Binder who finished in 1:47.730 ahead of, in order, Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez, Pecco Bagnaia and Morbidelli. A delay of a second and a half from the time that earned Marc Marquez pole instead for Enea Bastianini (9th) and Pedro Acosta (10th).
