MBezzecchi arch he returned to the front, at least on Friday. He is fourth and therefore in Q2 in the Jerez GP. You can say you are satisfied, but how did this result come about? Is it impromptu or is it the beginning of a new path?
In Zam’s “full throttle” podcast, out Sunday morning, Bezzecchi said that to drive the GP23 you have to “distort yourself”.
On Friday…
“It was a good first day, both in pace and in the lap, I’m in quite good shape. It was a better start than the previous GPs. In terms of pace I’m missing a few tenths, with the medium I immediately crashed and I didn’t do many laps, but this morning I did a 37.5 on the 18th lap which isn’t bad, I feel perhaps a little slower than the front runners. I went better with the soft, the lap was quite good, the important thing was to stay in the top ten , so good”
On the feeling with the GP24…
“Here it went immediately much better, the track has less grip than the previous ones so in the center of the corner today I felt an improvement, finally, I had already improved on the other parts, except in the center of the corner and therefore I managed to make a step there too and I feel better. But it’s still Friday and so we need to stay on track, work and study the others, to improve further”
About the weather and possible rain…
“Rain is always a bitch, dry is better, rain always has too many unknowns. I hope for dry conditions, however if it rains, it rains for everyone”
Does having Valentino Rossi in the garage make you take that half step? Like the girlfriend who looks at you…
“Better Vale than his girlfriend (laughs, ed.), he certainly helps Vale a lot, he sees us on the track, gives us lots of advice, it’s all a win with Vale, then it’s also fun to have him here with us”
How important are the data from the other Ducati riders, also given your difficult start to the season?
“I try to take advantage of this thing of being able to see the data of seven other riders, but without focusing too much on it. I try to study them to grow and learn”
Does a day like this help your morale?
“But, why not enjoy when you can enjoy? I’m of this philosophy here, in any case we shouldn’t sit on our laurels… then laurels, I finished fourth. We still have to work, however I’m happy”
