Reider explains the problems in preparation and how he “rebuilt” Marcell Jacobs

On Republicin an article by Mattia Chiusanowe found several very interesting insights into Reider-related thinking Marcell Jacobs. And beyond that, some “stuff” also happened during his preparation in Jacksonville. And Reider reports the following sentence:

We had to deal with two or three injuries, but we overcame this problem“.

The statement appears worrying, but then it is Reider himself who explains the path taken to fix everything.

We wanted to fully understand why some of Jacobs’ injuries persisted. My plan was to simply build a different muscle tone, so the volume of loads increased. We’ve made a big change in weight training. We spent a lot of time with the Sprint 1080 (the sprinting machine with variable resistance). We did this to build a more flexible body, and then slowly make it faster, stronger, more powerful over several consecutive days“.

And he concludes his thoughts like this:

The main goal was to make sure Jacobs was healthy to participate in the World Relays on May 4-5. Now he is running fast. Tracking is going well. After Nassau we will be in Europe and will leave again“.

And in a few hours, in Jacksonville, we will already know how much running fast means for Reider, given that Marcell will make his debut at the East Coast Relays.
