1.44pm – Also from Madrid, Tommy Paul (26) won his comeback match against (6-7, 6-1, 6-4) against Lukas Klein (26), while Mirra Andreeva (16) won the match between very young girls against Linda Noskova (19), lost 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
1.35pm – Easy progress at the WTA in Madrid Jasmine Paolini, n.13 in the ranking (new “best” after the quarterfinals in Stuttgart) and 12 in the seeding: the 28 year old from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana – inserted in the lower part of the scoreboard, the one presided over by Sabalenka – enters in the third round after defeating Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, 18 years old (she was no.1 in the junior world at just 14 years old!), no.335 in the ranking, in the draw thanks to a wild card.
12.52pm – Important victory for Andrey Rublev (26), who won for the first time after five matches, beating Facundo Bagnis (34) 6-1, 6-4.
Caroline Garcia (30) also achieved a straight set victory, 6-1, 6-4 over China’s Wang Xin.

12.15pm – Nothing to do for Lucia Bronzetti in the second round of the “Mutua Madrid Open”, Wta 1000. The Italian n. 46, returning to the tour after almost a month’s break, lost in two sets 6-4, 6-3 to Kazakh Elena Rybakina, n.4 in the ranking and fourth seeding favourite. Rybakina is the most successful tennis player of 2024, fresh from the third title of the season (the eighth of her career) won in Stuttgart.
10.25am – Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz will also be in action later, both ready to defend their titles won last year in the Spanish capital.
08:12 – The ATP tournament in Madrid will see several Italians involved today. The starters will be Lorenzo Musetti and Lucia Bronzetti, who will play at 11am. At 12.30pm it will be Jasime Paolini’s turn, while at 3pm it will be Luciano Darderi’s turn.
