The offer of around one hundred million dollars that Lawrence Stroll made to him to join Aston Martin, a team that from 2026 will be equipped with Honda power units, therefore maintaining a solid technical bond built over these years (Honda powers Red Bull since 2019, although since 2023 he has only been an external collaborator of the team). He would find Alonso as his leading driver, for whom he has always shown strong consideration and he would not be forced to move away from England by only changing the route between home and work by a few miles, towards Silverstone.

Nonetheless, from increasingly precise indiscretions, there would not only be the racing green among the most popular colors of Newey’s next uniform, but also red. Ferrari, in fact, would represent the culmination of an entire career, which would also allow him to work with Lewis Hamilton, who will move to Maranello from 2025. In the past there had been several contacts between the Scuderia and Newey, who however had always refused Italy. Now, however, he could join the Scuderia in a softer way, with the solidity of someone who has already won everything but also with the experience of a great player who knows he is arriving in a temple where great professionals already work. In essence, Newey could probably arrive in Maranello next spring, in time to lay the foundations from the beginning on the project of the new single-seater based on the new rules that will come into force in two years, when Audi will also enter F1 as the engine designer of the current Sauber.
